Minkitty's Jus' Tess's 2006th litter.  These kittens have all been placed and are doing fine in their new homes.
Scroll down and enjoy their journey from birth to their new homes.

**********
CH Minkitty's Jus' Tess had a litter of four healthy kittens on June 4th,2006. Scoll down and watch this litter grow.

Above  is a picture of the new borns taken about one hour after the last was born.  Second picture, "Family Dinner"  is taken on day two.  When kittens are this young, they should be doing one of two things, eating or sleeping.  If they are crying, something's wrong.  It is really important to keep the kittens warm and mom feeling safe and stress free.

First picture in this row are Tess's kittens at 3 days old.  Next two pictures are kittens at 5 days old.

The first picture are the kittens at 11 days and the next two are pictures at 14 days.  If you closely at the two group pictures,  you will notice that more color has "come in" on the ears and tail between 11 and 14 days.  The kittens with the 'pewter' ears and tail will be Platinum Mink and the ones with the brown ears and tails will be Champagne Mink, like the mom.

Kittens are born 9 weeks plus 2 days from the date of the sir & dam's first mating.  Different breeds might vary but my two moms are pretty much like clock work.    Kittens usually open their eyes between 7-10 days, sometimes earlier.

Kittens at 3 weeks, 4 weeks and 5 weeks.

The kittens started playing with each other at 3 weeks.  At 4 weeks they were pretty mobile so I took them out of the pen and let them run the room and play with toys under supervision.  I also started to teach them to eat solids.
At 5 weeks they have mastered eating and have also mastered the litter box.

At 6 weeks the kittens were romping in the kitten play room.  Everyone is healthy, happy and active.  The boys are the lighter ones (Platinum Mink) and the girls are the darker ones (Champagne Mink).  Mom is a Champagne Mink   The little mouthy one in the second picture is a girl.  Even though they are eating solids, I still allow the mom to be with them (when she wants) for socialization. The third picture are the kittens and mom at 10 weeks. After having two vaccinations, they are now allowed to run the house when I'm home to supervise.  As you can see in the third picture, they are exhausted.  They just spent the day "interviewing" the potential new humans that I pre-screened and invited to visit us.  I must have done a good job because kittens and potential new owners seemed happy with each other.

Chris & Xenia
Every once and a while a special bond developes between one of my cats and a kitten buyer.  It happened with Chris and Xena, the grandmother to many of my kittens.  Xena absolutely loves him, but at 9 years old, I cannot part with her.

Saying Good bye
It is always hard to say goodbye, not only for me but for those left behind.
